About the project:
The plant biotechnology program in the Department of Bioprocess Technology at Faculty of Technology,
Rajarata University of Sri Lanka is seeking to restore degraded coastal areas in Sri Lanka through turning
wasteland into a highly profitable and healthy saltmarsh ecosystem. The project involves identifying
economically important native salt-tolerant plant species, optimizing cultivation conditions, crop
improvement, co-product development and commercialization.
